Not a visual person.

I really do wish a bird would tell me this.

Words have been my professional go-to for a long time now. Creatively, we’ve had a more complicated relationship with ebbs and flows, good times and bad times. Plenty of meh times, too. Through it all, though, the words have been there for me as my primary form of expression (even if I was mostly a lurker on Twitter when Twitter was a fun place).

In professional situations, I’ve often said that I’m not a visual person, and that’s true. I do think I have a visual sense, and I’m not trying to put myself down. I say that because I deeply respect the skills and talents of designers and artists (I am lucky enough to know some extremely talented folks myself). Visuals are not my craft. We creatives love that, don’t we? We just love to hone our craft. We’re never done Honing. That. Craft. Words are my craft, while visuals are pure play.

I love to draw. I love to mess around with watercolors.  So I thought I would be a little bit vulnerable playful and share some of this stuff.

Btw, these used to live on a secret Pinterest board of mine called “EXPERIMENTS.”

My veiny eyelids.

Some little parfums.

This cactus is a character in my novel (in progress).

Post-It doodle.

Playing with watercolors.

Playing with watercolors some more.

A pattern.

Drew this on my tablet.

I long for a glass bottle with a regenerative label that I can peel over and over and over again.
